Content Management
A content management system (CMS) is a system or program that allows non-technical web site owners to manage the content of their web site.
How does a CMS work?
We believe that a user friendly CMS should work like this:
- The user browses the content of their web site until they reach the page they would like to edit.
- The user selects a button or menu item labeled “Edit Page”.
- The page is opened in an easy to use editor that allows them to change text and add tables or images.
- When the user has made the desired changes, they select a button or menu item labeled “Publish” and their changes are published to the web site.
Recommended CMS Solutions
There are almost as many CMS solutions as there are web sites on the Internet and the usability or level of user friendliness varies as well. For this reason we only recommend a few different CMS options for use on your web site.
Listed in order of ease of use, our recommended CMS solutions are:
- PHP Content Manager: our custom built content editor, easy to use and very affordable.
- Adobe Contribute: Very user friendly but software license required
- SeaMonkey: Free Software but not as user friendly
Additional Supported CMS Solutions
