Examples of Web Accessibility Issues

  • when a web site is coded with textual equivalents for images and with meaningful link names, it helps blind users using text-to-speech software
  • when text can be enlarged, it is easier for people with poor sight to read and understand
  • when links are underlined (or otherwise differentiated) as well as colored, color blind users will be able to notice them
  • when pages are coded so that users can navigate by means of the keyboard alone this helps users who cannot use a mouse
  • when flashing effects are avoided or made optional, users prone to seizures caused by these effects are not put at risk
  • when sites are correctly built and maintained, all users are accommodated while not impacting the usability of the site for non-disabled users
